Eleni Mariou

Eleni Mariou is an Assistant Professor in Language Education at the University of Birmingham's School of Education, where she also serves as Programme Director for the MSc TESOL Education. She holds a Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and has extensive experience in teaching and teacher training across multiple institutions.

• Previous roles include Teaching Fellow in TESOL at the University of Edinburgh and Associate Tutor for the MA in Applied Linguistics and TESOL at the University of Leicester.
• Temporary lecturing position at Democritus University of Thrace, Greece, focusing on BEd Primary Education.

Her research focuses on multilingualism, language education policies, and the sociopolitical dimensions of English as an international language. She has contributed to teacher training programs as an assessor and research associate, emphasizing practical and theoretical intersections in education.
