Elena Zenaro is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Verona. Her research focuses on innate immunity, neurodegenerative diseases, and the gut-brain connection, particularly investigating neutrophils, gamma-delta T cells, and experimental models of Alzheimer’s and Multiple Sclerosis. She teaches courses in pathology, immunology, and medical humanities, contributing to programs like the Master’s in Biology for Translational Research and Precision Medicine.
She holds roles in academic governance, including membership in the PhD Program Board for Inflammation, Immunity and Cancer, and chairs committees such as the Teaching Committee for the Biology Master’s program. Her research project Molecular mechanisms controlling leukocyte trafficking in the central nervous system (NEUROTRAFFICKING) explores immune cell behavior in neurodegenerative contexts.
Zenaro is affiliated with the LURM research laboratory and has organized or contributed to specialized courses in clinical pathology, biomedical biotechnology, and nursing. She actively participates in academic committees and internationalization initiatives.
