Elena Shklovskaya

Dr. Elena Shklovskaya is a Senior Lecturer at Macquarie Medical School, specializing in cancer immunology and translational research. She holds a PhD in Experimental Haematology from the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences and an MBBS from Novosibirsk State Medical University. Her career includes postdoctoral training in Switzerland, focusing on bone marrow failure mechanisms, followed by immunology research at Sydney's Centenary Institute.

Her current research combines flow cytometry and in vitro models to study immune regulation in metastatic melanoma, particularly resistance to immunotherapy. Key projects include the ACRF Centre for Advanced Cancer Modelling and Neoadjuvant Combination Checkpoint Inhibition in Glioblastoma.

Notable contributions include discovering antigen-presenting cells critical for immune tolerance and identifying CD16+ macrophages as biomarkers in melanoma therapy. She has authored over 48 publications, with a focus on cytokine signaling, immune checkpoint blockade, and tumor microenvironment dynamics.

Recipient of the 2016 ICB Best Publication Award, her work bridges basic science and clinical applications, addressing challenges in immunotherapy efficacy and resistance mechanisms.
