Elena Long is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of New Hampshire (UNH), within the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. She conducts research in nuclear and particle physics, focusing on quantum chromodynamics (QCD), spin physics, and the development of advanced experimental techniques. Her work includes studies of nucleon structure, tensor polarization targets, and applications of 3D printing in physics instrumentation.

Research Interests: Dr. Long's research explores fundamental questions in nuclear physics, including the internal structure of nucleons, gluonic effects, and the interplay between quarks and gluons in nuclear matter. She develops novel experimental tools such as tensor-polarized targets and employs 3D printing for custom detectors. Her lab collaborates with Jefferson Lab on experiments (E12-13-011, E12-15-005) to study short-range correlations and exotic states.
Publications: Her work contributes to understanding spin asymmetries, neutron form factors, and QCD dynamics through high-energy electron scattering experiments. Recent studies emphasize precision measurements of nuclear matrix elements and radiation backgrounds in particle beams.
