Elena Lekus is an Associate Professor at ITMO University's Faculty of Applied Optics and a Lecturer at the International Master's Program in Lighting Design. She combines expertise in cultural studies, philosophy, and art criticism with applied research on lighting's impact on cultural and socio-cultural environments.
- PhD in Cultural Studies and Philosophy (2013, Moscow University for the Humanities)
- Degree in History and Theory of Art (2000, St. Petersburg Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design)
- Vocational training in Optical Systems Development (2015, ITMO University), Innovations in Teaching and Learning (2018, Oxford Brookes University), and Electronic/Educational Environment (2019, ITMO University)
Her research focuses on the intersection of lighting design, cultural theory, and socio-cultural environments, with over 20 academic publications. She is a member of the Creative Association of Russian Lighting Designers (RULD) and has curated exhibitions at institutions like the State Russian Museums and Manege Central Exhibition Hall.
