Elena Gutiérrez

Elena Gutiérrez is an Associate Professor in Gender and Women's Studies and Latin American and Latino Studies at the University of Illinois Chicago. Her research examines reproductive justice, Latina health politics, and activism. She co-authored the award-winning book Undivided Rights: Women of Color Organize for Reproductive Justice (2004) and authored Fertile Matters: The Politics of Mexican-Origin Women's Reproduction (2008).

Current projects include a bi-national study on Mexican immigrant women's reproductive health networks and a national assessment of sterilization consent protocols. She collaborates with organizations like SisterSong and the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health.

Awards: Gustavus Myers Outstanding Book Award (2005).
