Dr. Elena Grintsevich serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry & Cellular Biology at California State University Long Beach since 2019, leading research on actin cytoskeleton regulation in neuronal contexts. Her work bridges molecular mechanisms with neurodegenerative disease pathology.

Her research centers on how >150 actin regulatory proteins achieve tissue-specific functions, with emphasis on neuronal cells where cytoskeleton misregulation underlies conditions like Alzheimer's disease. The Grintsevich Lab investigates drebrin, Mical, and cofilin interactions to understand actin remodeling in dendritic spines and growth cones, aiming to identify therapeutic targets for neurodegeneration and aging.

Analysis of her 2010-2019 publications reveals consistent focus on redox regulation of actin dynamics, particularly Mical-cofilin synergies and drebrin-mediated stabilization.
