Elena Gallitto is a Researcher in the School of Psychology at the University of Ottawa. She holds a PhD in Experimental Psychology (2021) from the University of Ottawa, an M.A. in Experimental Psychology (2012) from Carleton University, a B.A. in Psychology (2009) from York University, and a Laurea in Clinical Psychology (2005) from Università di Urbino, Italy. Her research focuses on designing interventions to improve developmental outcomes for at-risk children, program evaluation, and statistical analysis. She co-supervises students and performs research consulting.
Her research interests include equity and social justice, youth mental health, vulnerability, victimization, coping mechanisms, and quantitative research methods. Key studies examine stressors in resource parents during the pandemic, cultural identity and stress in Franco-Ontarian adolescents, and early childhood cognitive development interventions.
Publications highlight her work in journals like Developmental Child Welfare and Mediterranean Journal of Clinical Psychology, exploring topics such as parenting programs, child neglect, and autism spectrum traits. She has collaborated on studies assessing the SafeCare® program’s impact on caregiver mental health and family behaviors.
Elena’s academic supervisors include Elisa Romano, Robert Flynn, and Cristina Atance. Her work contributes to evidence-based practices in child welfare and resilience-building strategies for marginalized populations.
