Elena Favaro is a Research Fellow at the European Space Agency (ESA), specializing in planetary science with a focus on aeolian geomorphology. She utilizes geographic information systems and high-resolution imagery to study landforms (yardangs, periodic bedrock ridges) and bedforms (megaripples, dunes, transverse aeolian ridges) on Earth and Mars, with current emphasis on Oxia Planum—the designated 2030 landing site for ESA's ExoMars Rosalind Franklin rover mission.
Her research reconstructs Martian climatic history through analysis of aeolian features using remote sensing, 3D image analysis, and GIS.
