Elena Crippa

Dr Elena Crippa is the Curator of Contemporary Art at the Courtauld Institute of Art, specializing in modern and contemporary British art from a transnational perspective. Her current role involves exhibitions, research, and collection strategy development.

Education includes an MA in Curating Contemporary Art at the Royal College of Art and a Collaborative PhD funded by the Leverhulme Trust (2009–13) focused on UK art school curriculum changes (1960–2010). She studied at Università degli Studi di Trieste and Sorbonne Nouvelle.

Her research interests center on transnational British art, post-war visual culture, and the role of art schools in shaping artistic networks. Her exhibitions like All Too Human and Paula Rego reflect these themes, often exploring intersections of biography, politics, and cross-cultural exchange in art.
