Elena BADETTI is an Associate Professor in the Chemistry of the Environment and Cultural Heritage at Ca' Foscari University of Venice, within the Department of Environmental Sciences, Computer Science and Statistics. Her research focuses on the environmental behavior of nanomaterials, particularly their stability, toxicity, and applications in cultural heritage conservation. She holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2008) and has extensive postdoctoral experience in Spain and Italy, including a postdoc at ICMAB-CSIC (Barcelona, 2008–2010).
She has held multiple research positions, including a permanent role as a researcher since 2018. Her work spans nanomaterial safety assessment, ecotoxicology, and analytical methods for environmental nanoparticles. She is also actively involved in teaching laboratory exercises and has organized international conferences on supramolecular chemistry and nanotechnology. Recognized for her thesis on estrogenic substances in Venice's lagoon (2002), she has received awards from the VII Congresso Nazionale di Chimica Ambientale and the Province of Venice. She is a member of the Italian Chemical Society and has authored/co-authored over 60 peer-reviewed articles. Her lab responsibilities include safety oversight and laboratory research coordination.
