Nikolaos Eleftheriadis is Assistant Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Crete. His research combines chemical biology and medicinal chemistry approaches to study protein dynamics and develop novel antibiotics. He received his PhD from University of Groningen (cum laude) and conducted postdoctoral research at Groningen and KU Leuven with a prestigious Marie Curie Fellowship.
His work focuses on structural dynamics of proteins involved in inflammation (15-lipoxygenase) and bacterial pathogenicity (SecA translocase) using single-molecule FRET and chemical biology techniques. He founded ChessBioChem to facilitate collaborative drug discovery projects. Recent publications develop activity-based probes for enzyme studies and investigate novel antibiotic targets through structural analysis of bacterial transport mechanisms.
