معرفی
Eleanor Stride is the Statutory Professor of Biomaterials at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Department of Engineering Science and the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences. Her research focuses on nanoscale and microscale devices for targeted drug delivery, with a strong emphasis on biomedical applications such as biofilm disruption, ultrasound-mediated therapies, and tissue repair.
Stride earned her BEng and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from University College London (UCL), followed by a Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellowship. She joined the Oxford Institute of Biomedical Engineering in 2011 and became a full Professor in 2014.
Her research interests span biomaterials, nanotechnology, and ultrasound engineering, with notable contributions to drug delivery systems, biofilm treatment, and medical imaging. Key innovations include perfluorocarbon nanodroplet fabrication and ultrasound-responsive platforms for targeted therapies.
Stride has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Philip Leverhulme Prize, the Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists, and an OBE. She actively promotes engineering through BBC documentaries and public engagement, and has been named among the top 100 influential women in engineering multiple times.
Her work bridges academia and industry, with collaborations in medical device development and translational research. Current efforts include optimizing nanodroplet manufacturing, enhancing ultrasound therapies, and addressing biofilm-related infections in implantable devices.
