معرفی
Dr. Eleanor O'Brien is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Edith Cowan University (ECU), affiliated with the School of Medical and Health Sciences and the Centre for Precision Health. Her research focuses on genetic and lifestyle interactions influencing Alzheimer’s disease progression. She also serves as a Statistics Support Adviser in the School.
Education:
- Doctor of Philosophy (2007), University of Western Australia
- Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours in Zoology (2003), University of Western Australia
Research Interests: Eleanor’s work spans Genetics, Gene x Environment interactions, and Alzheimer’s disease. She investigates how genetic variants and lifestyle factors like sleep patterns influence disease onset. Her research bridges molecular genetics, epidemiology, and clinical neuroscience, with a focus on biomarker discovery and cross-disease genetic correlations.
Recent Research Trends: Her publications emphasize genetic mechanisms underlying Alzheimer’s, including sirtuin-1’s role, APOE-ε4 interactions, and IL1RL1 variants. She also explores cross-trait genetic links between Alzheimer’s and gastrointestinal disorders, highlighting the gut-brain axis. Recent work on melanopsin genes links sleep biology to brain health markers.
Advising & Grants: Eleanor supervises PhD and Master's students in Alzheimer’s research, including projects on micronutrient interactions and metabolic pathways. She collaborates internationally on genomic resilience scores and polygenic risk analysis. Her work is supported by grants focusing on precision health and aging mechanisms.
Labs & Teams: She contributes to ECU’s Centre for Precision Health, integrating genomic and environmental data for disease prediction. Collaborations span institutions like the University of Western Australia and international groups in neurology and genetics.
