Eleanor Drage is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge and Co-Director of the AI: Narratives and Justice Programme. She also serves as a Bye-Fellow and Tutor at Gonville & Caius College. Her leadership roles include Principal Investigator for the HEAT project (focused on AI ethics compliance with the EU AI Act) and Co-Investigator for the Desirable Digitalisation initiative.
Her research critically examines AI through feminist and anti-racist frameworks, addressing topics like:
- Limitations of AI hiring tools in eliminating bias
- Ethical risks in AI-powered protest prediction systems
- Structural inequalities perpetuated by algorithmic systems
Her scholarly publications explore recurring themes of feminist critique, ethical governance, and humanistic perspectives on technology, with a focus on deconstructing power dynamics in AI development.
She co-hosts the award-winning The Good Robot Podcast (top 5% globally) and has collaborated with organizations including Google DeepMind, United Nations, and Financial Times. Current projects involve translating research into policy frameworks for ethical AI regulation.
