Dr. Eldonna L May is a Part-Time Lecturer in the Department of Music at Wayne State University, with additional affiliations to the Irvin D. Reid Honors College. She holds the title of Chair Emerita of the President’s Commission on the Status of Women and is a certified online professor. Her academic roles include designing and teaching courses in music history, popular music, and interdisciplinary topics like music copyright and labor relations in media.
Her research expertise encompasses:
- Twentieth Century opera/oratorio and African diaspora music
- American popular music (rock, hip-hop, film scores)
- Pedagogy of online learning environments
- Music copyright law and labor representation in entertainment media
