Elbert Tom

Elbert Tom is a Clinical Associate Professor at the UCLA School of Dentistry, where he has served on the faculty since 1988. His roles include Group Practice Director, AxiUm Coordinator, Co-Course Chair for Preclinical Waxing, and Clinical Faculty in Oral Radiology. He is also Editor of the San Fernando Valley Dental Society’s Dental Dimensions and an ADA Faculty Ambassador.

Dr. Tom’s research focuses on Community Dentistry, Restorative Dentistry, and Sustainable Practices, with recent work on social determinants of health care and humanitarian initiatives. His publications highlight sustainable dental materials, global health outreach, and community clinic models.

Notable awards include multiple Faculty Recognition honors from UCLA dental classes, the 2024 Community-Engaged Course Development Grant, and memberships in prestigious honor societies like Richard and Marguerite Taylor Dean Honor Society and UCLA Honors Program.

He actively contributes to professional organizations such as the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and Omicron Kappa Upsilon (UCLA Chapter). His volunteer work spans local clinics and international brigades, including leadership in dental missions to Honduras.
