Elaine Mormer

Elaine Mormer is a Professor and Vice Chair for Clinical Education in the Department of Communication Science and Disorders at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. She is a certified audiologist (CCC-A) with extensive experience in clinical education and interprofessional collaboration. Her work bridges audiology and pharmacy to improve access to over-the-counter hearing aids.

Her recent publications reflect a strong trend toward interprofessional innovation, especially in integrating audiology services into community pharmacy settings. These works emphasize policy, accessibility, geographic distribution, and collaborative practice models to address hearing health disparities.

Mormer advises the Pitt Audiology and Hearing Club and plays a key leadership role in clinical education for AuD and SLP graduate students. Her initiatives in interprofessional education have positioned the University of Pittsburgh as a leader in OTC hearing aid training and policy development.

She is actively involved in the Center for Interprofessional Studies and has contributed to nationally recognized programs that integrate audiology with pharmacy and other health disciplines.
