Elaine Moreira is a Professor at the Institute of Anthropology (INAN) of the Federal University of Roraima, Brazil, and currently a CNPq-funded postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Bioethics, University of Brasilia (UNB). She holds a PhD in Social Anthropology and Ethnology from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), Paris, under the supervision of Philippe Descola, with a thesis titled Artífices do corpo e da memória: os cahiers dos chants chez les Ye’kuana (2012). Her research focuses on the Ye’kuana people of Brazil, exploring themes such as exchange networks, religion, and mobility between forest and urban spaces. She has been conducting fieldwork with the Ye’kuana since 1999, supported by grants from the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD). She is also a member of the PACTA project, investigating agrobiodiversity and traditional knowledge in Amazonian populations.
