Elaine Bohannon

Elaine Bohannon is a Full-Time Lecturer at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD), where she has taught since January 2007. Her expertise spans art history, painting, drawing, and humanities, with a focus on contemporary critical theory and practice.

Bohannon's research and teaching emphasize contemporary artists, their ideological approaches, and their evolving societal roles. She previously taught in Chicago and Detroit, transitioning from art practice to art history while exploring intersections between theory and artistic engagement. Her work includes involvement with Artemisia, a women-run cooperative gallery in Chicago during her graduate studies.
