معرفی
Ekaterina Shamonina is a Professor of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford and a Tutorial Fellow at Wadham College. Her research focuses on metamaterials, electrodynamics, plasmonics, nanophotonics, and microwave optics, with applications in reconfigurable systems, sensing technologies, and wave control mechanisms. She has held academic positions at the Universities of Osnabrueck, Erlangen-Nuremberg, and Imperial College before joining Oxford.
Her work emphasizes innovative approaches to metamaterial design, including 3D printed structures and coalesced resonators for dispersion control. Recent studies explore magnetoinductive waves for imaging conductive environments and wireless power transfer through topological edge states. Her research bridges fundamental physics with practical engineering solutions in communication systems and sensor technologies.
Publications highlight advancements in coupled resonator arrays, anisotropic coupling mechanisms, and non-contact conductivity sensing. While no individual awards are explicitly listed, her contributions are recognized through collaborative projects and student achievements, such as Oxford DPhil students winning accolades at the Osborne Reynolds Day (2025).
Ekaterina’s affiliations include leadership in the Communications Engineering research group at Oxford and active participation in interdisciplinary projects involving metamaterial fabrication and electromagnetic theory.
