Ekaterina Macuka is a university teacher at the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia, where she teaches courses on Personal Data Protection and Personal Data and Trade Secret Management. She holds a master’s degree in law (Mg. iur.) and has extensive professional experience in data protection and digital governance.
- Current Role: Director of the State Data Inspectorate (2020–present)
- Research Focus: Personal data protection, artificial intelligence legal frameworks, and digital governance policies.
Her work spans both academic and policy domains, with notable contributions to GDPR analysis and administrative law. She actively participates in EU data protection initiatives and has held leadership roles, including Chair of the EU Council Working Party on Data Protection and Information Exchange (2015).
