Ejvis Lamani is an Assistant Professor of Orthodontics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry, where he also serves as Director of the Orthodontics department. Additionally, he holds positions as a Scientist at the Global Center for Craniofacial, Oral and Dental Disorders (GC-CODED) and as an Associate Scientist at the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) within the UAB School of Medicine.
Dr. Lamani received his educational training from multiple institutions:
- Medical Certificate in Orthodontics Specialty from University of Texas System (San Antonio) in 2015
- Ph.D. in Microbiology from University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2012
- Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2011
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from University of Alabama in 1997
His research focuses on orthodontic treatment outcomes, craniofacial development, root resorption mechanisms, genetic factors in dental anomalies, and the application of technology in personalized orthodontics. Dr. Lamani's work bridges clinical orthodontics with molecular biology, examining how genetic variations affect treatment responses and dental development.
Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong focus on clinical orthodontic research with particular attention to root resorption, ethnic variations in dental anatomy, and innovative orthodontic techniques. His work spans from basic science investigations of tooth development to clinical trials evaluating new orthodontic devices and approaches. Recent publications show increasing interest in personalized orthodontics and the integration of technology in treatment planning.
Dr. Lamani has secured multiple research grants including funding from the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation, Dror Ortho-Design Ltd, and NIH-sponsored programs through the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences and National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research.
As an educator, Dr. Lamani actively mentors graduate students, serving as Committee Chair for multiple theses and teaching courses in genetics, orthodontic research methodology, and advanced craniofacial growth. His laboratory and research team focus on craniofacial development, orthodontic biomechanics, and genetic factors in dental anomalies, working closely with the Global Center for Craniofacial, Oral and Dental Disorders at UAB.
