Eitan Tzelgov is an Associate Professor in Politics specializing in Quantitative Methods at the University of East Anglia (UEA), affiliated with the School of Politics, Philosophy and Area Studies and the Politics & International Relations department. He previously served as a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Gothenburg’s Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem) Institute. His research focuses on strategic interactions within political parties and legislative rhetoric analysis, with a notable dissertation titled Words as Weapons: Opposition Rhetoric and Partisan Strategy, which won the 2014 Carl Albert Award from the APSA.
Research interests include political methodology, legislative studies, and comparative democracy analysis, particularly through the V-Dem framework. He has contributed to high-impact projects like the V-Dem dataset and methodology, funded by the Swedish Foundation for Humanities and Social Sciences (2018–2019).
His publications span outlets like Political Behavior and Social Media + Society, addressing topics ranging from economic voting dynamics to populist rhetoric in digital spaces. Tzelgov has participated in major academic conferences (e.g., European Political Science Association) and provided expert commentary on Israeli politics and Middle East conflicts in media outlets.
