Eileen Roesler is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Factors/Applied Cognition at George Mason University, specializing in human-automation interaction and human-robot interaction (HRI). Her research focuses on the cognitive, behavioral, and social dynamics between humans and emerging technologies like AI and robots, aiming to foster intuitive and socially responsible technological integration.
Her work is conducted through two primary labs: the Human-Agent Collaboration Lab (HAC Lab) and the Human-Robot Interaction Lab (HRI Lab). These labs investigate challenges in human-technology interactions, including trust, acceptance, and ethical design. Recent projects explore robot embodiment effects, explainable AI, and cross-cultural technology affinity through tools like the TAEG Questionnaire.
Dr. Roesler prioritizes open-access research, with most publications available on Google Scholar or via ResearchGate. She is affiliated with Fall 2025 classes and welcomes student involvement in her labs. Her research trends emphasize contextualized trust dynamics, anthropomorphism’s role in HRI, and the interplay between technology design and human perception.
Lab events and collaborations are highlighted through platforms like the 'what the hac' blog, and the HRI Lab’s inaugural event invites participation in industrial and social robotics research. Her work bridges academic inquiry with practical applications in education, healthcare, and industrial settings.
