Ehab Shaheen is a Professor of Construction Management at Florida Gulf Coast University, affiliated with the U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering. With over two decades of experience in project execution within the oil and gas industry and real estate development, Dr. Shaheen specializes in materials selection, fracture mechanics, and structural reinforcement. He is an active member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and collaborates with the University of Calgary and Northeastern University on research and teaching initiatives.
- Education: Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (University of Calgary), M.S. in Mechanical Engineering (University of Saskatchewan), B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (The American University in Cairo)
His research focuses on enhancing fracture properties of materials through composites, corrosion protection methods, and mechanics of materials. He has pioneered the use of Reactive Powder Concrete (RPC) as a durable alternative to corrosion-prone metals, particularly in pipeline and masonry restoration contexts. His published work spans environmental spill consequences, structural health monitoring, and advanced composite applications.
Key publications highlight his expertise in RPC optimization, SGFRP strengthening techniques, and corrosion-wear interactions. Dr. Shaheen has supervised students on predictive modeling and lateral load resistance studies, contributing to pipeline integrity and structural durability advancements.
