Egil Galaaen Gjølme

Professor Egil Galaaen Gjølme holds a joint appointment at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Department of Teacher Education, Faculty of Social and Educational Sciences) and the Norwegian School of Sport Science. As a part-time faculty member, he leads research on aquatic education systems and drowning prevention strategies.

His research develops evidence-based water safety curricula for Nordic educational systems, focusing on outdoor aquatic competence, cold-water survival skills, and inclusive drowning prevention frameworks. Publications address policy implementation challenges, cultural barriers in water safety education, and pedagogical innovations in physical education.
