Egil Dröge is a Researcher at the Wildlife Conservation Research Unit (WildCRU), part of the University of Oxford's Department of Zoology. He serves as the course coordinator/lead tutor for the Recanati-Kaplan Centre Post Graduate Diploma in International Wildlife Conservation Practice. Dröge holds a M.Sc. in Ecology and a M.Sc. in GIS from Wageningen University, followed by a Ph.D. focusing on predator-predator relations and non-lethal effects of predators on prey in Zambia’s Liuwa Plains National Park under Montana State University’s Scott Creel.
His research interests emphasize predator-prey relationships, uncertainty in wildlife population estimates, and conservation strategies for large carnivores in African ecosystems. He has extensive field experience with the Zambian Carnivore Programme, working across the Caribbean and Africa. He integrates GIS technologies into conservation practice to enhance spatial analysis for ecological management.
Dröge’s academic contributions include advancing methodologies for non-invasive predator research and promoting interdisciplinary approaches to wildlife conservation education.
