Ee Ming Wong is an Adjunct Research Fellow in the Department of Medicine at Monash University, affiliated with Monash Health. They hold an Honorary Fellowship at the University of Melbourne (2017–2022). Their research focuses on cancer epigenetics, DNA methylation, and environmental risk factors, particularly in breast and prostate cancers. They accept PhD students under the Monash Medicine Research program.
Research interests include epigenetic mechanisms linking lifestyle factors (e.g., smoking, diet) to cancer risk, heritable methylation biomarkers, and the impact of environmental exposures (e.g., air pollution, wildfires) on health. Recent work explores epigenetic changes in response to temperature fluctuations and wildfire PM2.5 exposure.
Key achievements include over 70 peer-reviewed publications, with 2023 articles addressing wildfire health impacts and cancer epigenetics. Awards include the Dora Lush Scholarship (2007) and Dyason Fellowship (2016). They actively engage in peer review (e.g., BMC Cancer, BioTechniques) and public outreach (ASHG DNA Day events).
Collaborations span institutions globally, focusing on twin and family studies to disentangle genetic vs. environmental influences. Current projects include studying methylation-based cancer risk scores and the biological effects of environmental pollutants.
