Edward Wheeler is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, where he is also an alumnus. Holding the Lawrence J. Giacoletto Endowed Chair since 2016, he conducts groundbreaking research in electromagnetics and signal integrity while mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
His research spans electromagnetics, microwave engineering, signal integrity, metamaterials, microfabrication, and nanotechnology, with emphasis on practical applications in high-frequency systems. This work has driven the establishment of federally funded laboratories for electromagnetics, MEMS, and nanotechnology on campus, enabling advanced student research.
Dr. Wheeler's contributions have been recognized through:
- Lawrence J. Giacoletto Endowed Chair in Electrical Engineering (2016-Present)
- Board of Trustees Outstanding Scholar Award (2011)
- Distinguished Teaching Award from Virginia Military Institute
- Third Millennium Medal from IEEE
He has secured nearly $2.8 million in research grants and guided students to present over 30 conference papers, with many graduates entering top graduate programs and high-tech industry roles. His federally funded laboratories support ongoing research in electromagnetics, MEMS, and nanotechnology development.
