معرفی
Edward Silson is a Professor and Reader in Human Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Edinburgh’s School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences. He holds a PhD in Visual Neuroscience from the University of York and previously worked at the NIH in Washington DC. His research focuses on visual perception, memory systems, and neuroimaging techniques.
Education:
- BSc Psychology (2009), University of York
- MSc Cognitive Neuroscience (Distinction, 2010), University of York
- PhD Visual Neuroscience (2013), University of York
Research Interests: Silson investigates the functional organization of visual cortex, visual-memory interactions, and retinotopic biases. His work combines fMRI, neurostimulation, and computational modeling to explore how visual systems interact with memory.
Recent Trends in Articles: Silson’s recent work emphasizes retinotopic coding’s role in perception-memory systems, visual field biases in category-selective regions, and the neural basis of scene processing.
Funding: He leads a BBSRC-funded £800k project (2021) on scene processing with Prof. Tony Morland. This collaboration includes postdoc positions at Edinburgh and York.
Lab & Collaborations: The lab focuses on visual cognition and employs techniques like MEG, TMS, and eye-tracking. Jessica Teed is a current PhD student.
