Edward Moreira Bahnson

Edward Moreira Bahnson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cell Biology & Physiology at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He leads the Bahnson Research Group within the Center for Nanotechnology in Drug Delivery and McAllister Heart Institute, focusing on diabetic vasculopathies and redox-based nanotherapies for cardiovascular disease.

His research program centers on understanding redox dysfunction in diabetic vasculature and developing targeted nanotherapies. Key research themes include:

• Manipulating vascular redox environment to treat arterial disease
• Investigating air pollution effects on vascular surgery outcomes
• Developing nanocarriers for localized delivery of redox therapeutics
• Preventing restenosis through Nrf2 pathway activation
