Edward M. Uchio

Edward M. Uchio, MD, is a board-certified Professor in the Department of Urology at the UC Irvine School of Medicine. He specializes in urologic oncology, focusing on genitourinary tract malignancies such as prostate, bladder, kidney, and testicular cancers.

• Education: Medical degree from UC Irvine School of Medicine, residency in urology at University of Washington Medical Center, and fellowship in urologic oncology at the National Cancer Institute (NIH).

Clinical expertise includes laparoscopic, robot-assisted, and minimally invasive techniques for cancer treatment, such as cryoablation, radiofrequency ablation, and high-intensity focused ultrasound. He pioneers advanced imaging technology combining MRI and ultrasound for precise prostate biopsies.

Dr. Uchio directs clinical trial research for the Department of Urology, serving as principal investigator for over 25 clinical studies, particularly in advanced prostate cancer.
