Edward Golding is the Executive Director of the MIT Golub Center for Finance and Policy and a Senior Lecturer at MIT Sloan School of Management. He holds a PhD in Economics from Princeton University (1982) and an AB in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University (1976). Prior to his current role, he served as head of the Federal Housing Administration (2015–2017), senior advisor at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and executive at Freddie Mac (1989–2012). His expertise spans housing finance policy, economic regulation, and financial market strategies.
Dr. Golding has taught at Columbia Business School (Adjunct Professor), the Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania), Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School, and the University of Florida. His research focuses on systemic financial risks, housing market disparities, and regulatory frameworks for fintech.
His recent articles emphasize closing racial homeownership gaps and improving cryptocurrency regulation. Notable publications include analyses of FHFA policies and fair lending practices. Golding’s career reflects a blend of academic leadership, public policy influence, and private-sector experience in shaping financial systems.
