معرفی
Edward Gillan is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Iowa, where he leads the Gillan Research Group. His work focuses on designing inorganic materials through thermochemically driven syntheses for energy and catalytic applications. He operates labs in the Chemistry Building (E310) and manages group activities in E321.
- Current research themes: metal borides, electrocatalysis, metal phosphides, porous materials, mechanochemical/hydrothermal synthesis, nanotechnology
The group received a 2024 Research Laboratory Excellence in Safety Award, highlighting their commitment to laboratory safety. Gillan has supervised over a dozen PhD/MSc students and REU undergraduates, many of whom have transitioned to prestigious postdoctoral positions, graduate programs, and industry roles. Alumni include Tony Montoya (Argonne National Labs), Ishanka Liyanage (FDA), and Ashley Flores (UC Santa Barbara).
- Key collaborations: Prof. Johna Leddy (electrochemistry), Prof. Mishtu Dey (co-advised PhD students)
