Edward C. Cheung

Dr. Edward C. Cheung is a board-certified orthopedic sports medicine and shoulder surgeon affiliated with the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). He serves as a team physician for the LA Chargers NFL team and UCLA Bruins collegiate teams, including Baseball, Men’s Volleyball, and Gymnastics. His clinical expertise spans shoulder, elbow, and knee management, with a focus on minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques and complex reconstructions.

• Education: MD from Brown University School of Medicine (2012), Orthopedic Surgery residency at UCLA School of Medicine (2018), Sports Medicine fellowship at UC San Francisco School of Medicine (2019).
• Clinical Interests: Primary and revision shoulder replacements, rotator cuff disease, ACL/PCL tears, shoulder instability, and knee ligament injuries.
• Key Publications: 10 recent studies spanning 2015–2020 on ACL injury mechanisms, shoulder arthroplasty outcomes, and fixation techniques in ligament reconstruction.

Scientific Awards: Recognized as a Super Doctors® Southern California Rising Star in 2021, 2023, and 2024. Recipient of the Western Orthopaedic Association First Place Poster Award (2015) and the H&H Lee Surgical Research Scholars Program grant (2014).
