Edouard Hertz

Edouard Hertz is an HDR Lecturer in the Photonics Department at the Institute of Complex Systems (ICB) of the University of Burgundy, France. He is located in the Mirande Building, Wing D, 2nd floor.

Dr. Hertz completed his thesis at the Physics Laboratory of the University of Burgundy on coherent laser control. He then completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at FORTH in Heraklion, Greece, focusing on optimal experimental control and characterization of attosecond pulses.

His research spans multiple advanced areas of photonics:

• Laser control and pulse shaping techniques
• Ultrashort pulse metrology
• Molecular alignment by intense ultrashort laser fields
• Optical diagnostics using time-resolved spectroscopy
• Laser ionization phenomena
• Filamentation processes

Since 2002, Dr. Hertz has been a member of the Femtosecond Processes and Intense Lasers research team, exploring various aspects of laser-matter interactions in the intense ultrashort (femtosecond) pulse regime.

As an HDR-qualified academic, he has research supervision privileges within the French university system and contributes to advanced experimental work at the intersection of physics and ultrafast optics.
