Franck Billard is a CNRS Research Engineer at the University of Burgundy since 2008, specializing in Ultrafast Optics within the Femtosecond Processes and Intense Lasers (PFL) team of the Photonics Department. His research focuses on ultrashort laser instrumentation, pump-probe spectroscopy, and innovative temporal characterization methods.
Billard graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Physique de Marseille in 2001 and earned his doctorate from the University of Aix-Marseille in 2005. His career includes postdoctoral work on CARS microscopy at the Fresnel Institute before joining the Carnot Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Burgundy.
His expertise spans nonlinear optics, laser pulse shaping, and biophotonics applications. He has co-authored 82 peer-reviewed articles (62% in Optics, 28% in Atomic/Molecular Physics) with 1120 citations (H19), delivered 13 invited conferences, and participated in 31 oral communications. He currently serves on the steering committee of the FEMTO network since 2021.
