Edmund T. Gordon is Professor of African and African Diaspora Studies and Executive Director of the Contextualization and Commemoration Initiative at The University of Texas at Austin's College of Liberal Arts. He previously served as founding chair of the department and Director of the Center for African and African American Studies.

Recent teaching includes asynchronous/synchronous courses on Texas power dynamics and place-making history.
Dr. Gordon maintains active affiliations with the Warfield Center for African and African American Studies and the Institute for Urban Policy Research and Analysis, directing initiatives that contextualize historical narratives through contemporary social frameworks.
