Edith Hall is a Professor of Classics in the Department of Classics and Ancient History at Durham University (2021–present). Formerly held professorships at King's College London (2012–2021), Royal Holloway, University of London (2006–2012), and earlier positions at Cambridge, Oxford, Durham, and Reading Universities. She studied at Oxford University and has held visiting professorships worldwide, including Washington University and Leiden University. Her research explores Ancient Greek social/intellectual history, literature, performance culture, and the reception of classical antiquity. Notable awards include the Humboldt Research Award (2013) and the Erasmus Medal (2015). She has authored/co-edited over 20 books, including influential works on Greek tragedy and cultural reception.
