Dr Edidiong Bassey is a Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University, specializing in taxation. He joined in September 2024 after postdoctoral roles at the University of York and University of Galway.

His research explores taxation's role in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 13, 16, 17), focusing on environmental taxation, digital taxation, international tax frameworks, and public sector accountability. He investigates tax administration, climate finance, and technology acceptance models.
Current projects include a British Academy-funded study on civil society's influence in tax administration. He contributes to the Tax Research Network and blogs regularly on tax & public finance issues at WordPress.
