Dr. Eden Jiao is a Lecturer in Hospitality Analytics at the University of Surrey's School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. She holds a PhD in Tourism Forecasting (University of Surrey) and a BSc in Mathematical Science from Carnegie Mellon University. Her research focuses on tourism demand modeling, spatial econometrics, destination competitiveness, and policy analysis. She leads the Interdependency and Spatial Spillovers of Tourism Demand in Asia project funded by Hong Kong's General Research Fund (£30,700).
She teaches courses including MAN1110 Financial Accounting in Service Industry and MAN2154 Applied Financial Management. Her work bridges quantitative methods with tourism policy, emphasizing resilience and crisis management in post-pandemic contexts. Recent publications explore reference-dependent destination choices, spatial spillover effects, and fiscal policy effectiveness in tourism recovery.
Dr. Jiao collaborates with institutions like the Centre for Competitiveness of the Visitor Economy. Her research integrates advanced econometric models to address spatial-temporal dynamics, offering actionable insights for policymakers and industry stakeholders.
