Prof. Eddy van der Zee is a Professor at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Science and Engineering, leading the Van der Zee lab in Molecular Neurobiology. His research focuses on neuroscience topics including hippocampal function, circadian rhythms, and neurodegenerative diseases like dementia and Parkinson's. He has received the Dutch Zoology Prize (1996) and leads major projects such as BIRD-NL (dementia prevention) and AL-III (Parkinson's treatment via whole-body vibration).
- Academic Roles: Professor, Molecular Neurobiology Lab Director
- Key Research Areas: Neurodegeneration, Behavioral Neuroscience, Circadian Biology
Recent studies investigate social health integration in dementia, cortical activation via vibration, and circadian dysfunction in PKU models. He supervises PhD students including Ronde, Ahuja-Wilming, and van der Goot. His work bridges preclinical and clinical research, with datasets on vibration therapy and PKU interventions. Editorial roles include Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience.
