Eddy Troy is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the English Department at Western Washington University, part of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. He holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Riverside. His research focuses on intersections between film, philosophy, and literature, with particular attention to migration narratives in transnational cinema, critical theory, and 19th-century French literature.
Dr. Troy’s academic work bridges film-philosophy and critical theory, exploring themes like diasporic identity formation through cinematic representation. His recent publications analyze ethical dimensions of visual media in works by filmmakers like Claire Denis and Barry Jenkins, alongside philosophical engagements with Deleuze and Zola.
His research has been published in interdisciplinary venues addressing film theory, literary criticism, and continental philosophy. Current projects examine transnational French-language cinema’s portrayal of migration and return.
