معرفی
Eddie van Veldhuizen is an Assistant Professor at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), affiliated with the Department of Applied Physics and Science Education. He leads research in the Elementary Processes in Gas Discharges group, focusing on high-pressure, low-temperature plasmas and their transient dynamics. His work includes pulsed high-voltage sources, plasma parameter measurements, chemical conversions, and discharge modeling.
Academically, he earned his PhD from TU/e in 1984 on hollow glow cathode discharge studies. His research integrates experimental approaches to advance plasma technologies for societal applications, such as medical wound treatment and environmental remediation.
Key achievements include developing a flexible DBD device for infected wound therapy, demonstrated through in vitro/ex vivo studies. This device showed superior bacterial reduction compared to traditional plasma jets while preserving tissue viability. His studies on streamer discharges and plasma breakdown mechanisms have advanced understanding of non-equilibrium plasma dynamics.
No ancillary activities or awards are listed. He contributes to the Elementary Processes group and has supervised collaborative projects with colleagues in biomedical and materials science domains.
