Ute M. Ebert

Ute M. Ebert is a part-time Full Professor in the Elementary Processes in Gas Discharges group at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), with her primary affiliation at Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) in Amsterdam, where she leads the Multiscale Dynamics group. Her research focuses on plasma physics, gas discharges, and lightning phenomena, with collaborations spanning EU/NWO-funded projects on high-voltage technology and plasma applications in agriculture and combustion engines.

Education:

• Bachelor/Master: Physics at University of Heidelberg (Germany) and Hebrew University (Jerusalem, Israel)
• PhD in Physics from University of Essen (Germany, 1994)
• Postdoc at Leiden University (Instituut-Lorentz, 1994–1998)
• Researcher at CWI, Amsterdam (1998–present)

Research Interests: Analytical and computational modeling of pulsed gas discharges, plasma dynamics, high-voltage technology, lightning physics, and plasma applications in industry. Key projects include collaborations with ABB Corporate Research, Bekaert Combustion Technology, and VitalFluid BV.

• Elected AGU Fellow (2022)

Grants & Advising: Supervised 32 academic works. Active in organizing conferences such as the International Conference on Phenomena in Ionized Gases (2023) and HAKONE XVII (2022). Funded projects include EU and Dutch Research Council (NWO) initiatives.

Labs & Teams: Leads the Multiscale Dynamics group at CWI, focusing on multiscale modeling and plasma simulations. Collaborates closely with TU/e's experimental facilities for joint research outputs.
