Eddie Yang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Purdue University, having commenced this role in fall 2024. Previously, he was a GPEP pre-doctoral fellow at the University of California San Diego and held fellowships at Stanford University and Microsoft Research.
His academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Political Science from UC San Diego, an M.A. from the University of Chicago, and a B.A. from UCLA.
Yang's research examines the authoritarian politics of Artificial Intelligence, specifically investigating how state censorship and propaganda mechanisms induce political biases in AI systems. His work bridges political science and computer science, focusing on technology governance in non-democratic regimes and the political implications of AI development under authoritarian rule.
