Eddie Bradley Jr.

Eddie Bradley Jr., Ph.D., is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Theater and Performance at Spelman College, where he has been a faculty member since 2000. He combines academic teaching in theater literature and theory with active professional work as an actor, director, and playwright.

Education:

• Ph.D. in Playwriting, Southern Illinois University-Carbondale
• M.A., Virginia Tech University
• BFA in Acting/Directing, North Carolina A&T State University (summa cum laude)

Research and Artistic Focus: Dr. Bradley specializes in theater, playwriting, and directing, with a strong emphasis on African-American narratives and performing arts. His notable works include the adaptation of Langston Hughes' "Black Nativity" and original plays like "Ray & Sons" and "An Evening with Ira Aldridge." He has directed productions such as "Fences" and "Two Trains Running" and contributed to special projects for Walt Disney Entertainment and MLK memorial events.

Professional Affiliations: Dr. Bradley collaborates extensively with theater groups including Synchronicity Theatre, Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theatre Company, and Horizon Theatre Company. His artistic contributions span acting, directing, and writing, highlighted by roles in the world premiere of "Beyond a Reasonable Doubt: The Troy Davis Story".
