Ro Reddick is a Lecturer in the School of Literary Arts and Studies at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and the 2024–25 Playwrights Center Core Apprentice, currently commissioned by People’s Light Theatre for their Queerways PA residency program.
Her educational background includes:
- MFA in Playwriting from Brown University
- MBA from New York University
- BFA in Acting from Ithaca College
As a queer Black playwright and songwriter, Ro creates off-kilter comedies and original songs exploring late capitalism and queer experiences, described as the 'theme songs to your late capitalist nightmares.' Her interdisciplinary approach integrates theater, musical composition, and social critique, with deep roots in comedic storytelling and identity-driven narratives.
Her notable recognitions include:
- Lambda Literary Fellow in Playwriting
- Adele Kellenberg Seaver Fellow in Creative Writing
- Miranda Theatre Company Playwright Grant
- Two-time Eugene O'Neill Theater Center finalist
Ro has secured the Miranda Theatre Company Playwright Grant and a commission from People’s Light Theatre, alongside participation in prestigious programs like Berkeley Rep’s Ground Floor and Clubbed Thumb’s MFA Showcase. She actively develops new work through institutional partnerships and residencies.
She has run creative labs at Williamstown Theatre Festival, Bushwick Starr, and La Mama Umbria, fostering collaborative development of theatrical pieces while maintaining an active performance career in theater, television, and music.
