Eddie Alford is a Lecturer in math and sciences at Arizona State University's Polytechnic Campus, affiliated with the School of Applied Sciences and Arts (CISA) within the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts. He joined ASU in 2006 after a 30-year career with the U.S. Forest Service, where he specialized in ecology and natural resource management. His expertise includes ecological restoration, rangeland management, and wildland fire ecology. Alford holds a Ph.D. (Arizona State University, 2001), an M.S. (Colorado State University, 1975), and a B.S. (New Mexico State University, 1974).
Research interests focus on fire ecology in Sonoran Desert plant communities, grazing management in arid ecosystems, and sustainable ecosystem functioning. He teaches courses such as General Biology, Restoration Ecology, and Rangeland Ecosystem Management. Alford is a member of the Society for Rangeland Management and the Ecological Society of America.
His professional activities include a grant-funded partnership with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) on natural resource science (2011–2016). He regularly teaches courses like ABS 375 (Equine Science) and ABS 394 (Special Topics).
